Breaking the Gender Binary & Learning to Trust Ourselves in the Process Co-facilitator: Gilbert Gammad In this workshop we will talk about the basics of the “gender binary” and how it constricts and confines our society, promotes violence and prevents self-love. Join us for a dialogue and activity centered on the ways that destroying the gender binary and fighting for trans liberation benefits not just trans folks, but all of us. BIO Pronouns: they, them, theirs Ben Liddie graduated Suma Cum Laude from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in Sociology and a Minor in LGBTQ Studies. They have pursued the field of Youth Development through nonprofits like Hidden Villa, where they managed and facilitated experiential education programs for teens in the outdoors. They develop curriculum designed to encourage self-exploration, critical thinking, and leadership skills. Ben is a community collaborator on issues surrounding the LGBTQ+ experience, including strengthening social support for LGBTQ+ youth and increasing access to medical and mental health services. They strive to challenge cultural perceptions of sexual and gender diversity, mental health stigma, and human relationships to the environment. |
