Breaking the Gender Binary & Learning to Trust Ourselves in the Process Co-facilitator: Ben Liddie In this workshop we will talk about the basics of the “gender binary” and how it constricts and confines our society, promotes violence and prevents self-love. Join us for a dialogue and activity centered on the ways that destroying the gender binary and fighting for trans liberation benefits not just trans folks, but all of us. BIO Pronouns: they, them, theirs Gilbert Gammad holds a B.A. in Gender, Sexuality & Women's Studies, and Evolution, Ecology & Biodiversity as well as a minor in Art History from the University of California, Davis. In their time at UC Davis, they worked with the Peer Education program at the campus Women's Resources & Research Center as well as with BRIDGE: Pilipinx American Outreach & Retention, to create spaces for dialogue, education, and healing around issues that affect the Filipinx American and LGBTQ+ communities on the UC Davis campus. As San Mateo County Pride Center's Youth Program Coordinator, they hope to aid in the healing and empowerment of LGBTQ+ folks across various backgrounds in the Bay Area. Gilbert enjoys cuddling with their dogs Aberforth and Molly when they have the chance to visit their family in Fairfield, California. |
