Youth have power in the world. Youth leaders like Malala Yousafzai clearly articulate that age does not matter when it comes to activism. Anyone can make a change that holds impact in the world. I want to be a Peer Leader because the TeenzTalk organization understands that through connections and collective commitment, positive change can be made. I grow weary of hearing the same news about the world’s negative global climate of affairs and am sick of its deprecating effects on the morale of so many youth today. As a Peer Leader, I want to show my fellow peers that something can be done to improve the lives of our global neighbors. At the end of the day, all we are, all that is left of us when we all eventually pass on, is our impact on the world. I want to be a Peer Leader to create my impact through the network of international leaders who I can work with to invent solutions to the world’s current issues, especially surrounding youth mental health and wellness. I have always been passionate about fighting apathy because I understand that I eventually will inherit these problems, and rather than waiting until I am older, I choose to follow the mantra of fixing what I can now.
