Teen Wellness Conference Planning Member:
My name is Anna, and I am 16 years old living in the Bay Area. I was born and raised in London, England, but moved to California two years ago, around the same time that my interest in teen mental health began.
One of the ways this manifested itself is with my involvement in the One Love Foundation, a nonprofit organization and youth crisis prevention program. It’s a nationwide peer-to-peer based program educating teens about violent romantic relationships and making healthy choices. After establishing a One Love club at my school and having worked closely with other teen ambassadors, I strongly believe the peer-to-peer component plays a key role in the movement toward positive mental health. Hence, I am more interested now than ever in helping teens get the resources they need when confronted with difficult issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders and more.
As a teen myself with friends and family having faced similar struggles, I truly believe that having a safe environment to share your story is so important. I believe in a society emphasizing the importance of strength rather than vulnerability, it is more important now than ever to facilitate discussion surrounding mental health and how we can nourish it. TeenzTalk is an organization allowing us to do so, and I’m proud to be a part of it!
